A tasty yet simple cake recipe, with speculaaskruiden.

Moist and crumbly speculaascake.


  • 100 grams of Butter*
  • 200 grams of (Dark) Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs*
  • 120 grams of Milk
  • ยฝ teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 250 grams of Flour
  • 6 grams of Baking Powder
  • 20 grams of Speculaaskruiden
  • Optional: Almond Shavings


    1. Preheat your oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
    2. Prepare your loaf tin (26 cm) by brushing the inside of the pan with butter and lining it with baking paper.
    3. Beat together the butter and brown sugar.
    4. Next add in the eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.
    5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and speculaaskruiden.
    6. Add half of the flour mixture to the batter and mix it through.
    7. Next add in half of the milk and mix it through.
    8. Repeat the last two steps, so all of the flour mixture and milk is well incorporated.
    9. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf tin.
    10. Optional: Decorate the top with some almond shavings.
    11. Bake the cake for 50 to 60 minutes.
    12. Let it cool completely.


*Make sure this ingredient is at room temperature.
